Netflix app for Windows 10/11 now allows you to download or save movies and TV shows on your PC for offline viewing. With this new feature, Netflix’s contents are now available for download on iOS, Android, and Windows 10/11.
Netflix app for Windows 10/11 allows you to quickly view and manage downloaded movies and TV shows without leaving the app. You can view all downloaded content and delete movies and TV shows that you don’t want on your PC anymore.
While you can view the total disk space consumed by all downloaded content from Netflix by navigating to Netflix’s settings page, the app does not disclose where downloaded movies and TV shows are saved on your PC. Instead, the app shows all downloaded contents within the app without revealing the actual location on your Windows 10 computer.
Where videos downloaded from Netflix are saved on Windows 10/11?
When you download a Netflix movie or TV show using the official app, downloaded contents are stored in a folder on the drive where Windows 10/11 is installed. If the system drive, the drive where Windows 10/11 is installed, is filling up fast, you might want to move some of the downloaded Netflix movies and TV shows to some other drives or external drives.
Netflix stores all downloaded movies and TV shows in the following folder:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8\LocalState\offlineInfo\downloads
In the above path, “C” is the drive where Windows 10/11 is installed. UserName is the actual user account name.
Once you navigate to the above directory, you will see all downloaded movies and TV shows. Netflix doesn’t use descriptive names for downloaded content, so you cannot identify them. However, the size of the file might give you some clues. The biggest catch is that these contents cannot be opened with media players like VLC or GOM Player.
Please bear in mind that the Netflix app will not recognize or play content if you rename or change the files. So, don’t try to rename downloaded Netflix content.
Change Netflix’s default download location
Although the Netflix app for Windows 10 doesn’t offer an option to change the default download location, you can use the workaround in our how to change the Netflix download location in Windows 10 guide to quickly move the Netflix app and downloaded movies to a different drive. You can use this method to save Netflix to external drives as well.
